She wipes tears, kisses boo-boos, and changes dirty diapers. She’s a nurturer, counselor, disciplinarian, cook, housekeeper, and perhaps even a firefighter at times. Being a good mother is not easy. It can be challenging at stressful at times. Here are a few random thoughts on what make a good mother.
Trait of a Good Mother #1: A good mother prays frequently for her children.
A good mother prays often for her children. She might pray simply for their day to day activities, that she will raise them correctly, and that they will make good life choices. She might pray for their future spouses, their jobs and their times at school. A good mother will also pray with her children daily, and teach her children to pray.
Trait of a Good Mother #2: A good mother knows when to apologize.
A good mother apologizes when she has messed up. This teaches her children to do the same. She is human, and will make mistakes, but she will apologize when she’s not been right.
Trait of a Good Mother #3: A good mother does not badmouth her children behind their backs.
A good mother will not say negative things or gossip about her children. This is very important as the children get older. (This is not necessarily referring to venting about potty training, but more about portraying them in a negative light.)
Trait of a Good Mother #4: A good mother loves her children unconditionally.
A good mother loves her children no matter what. Of course, she will be upset when they make mistakes, and select poor choices, but she will always love them, in all circumstances. A good mother will say “I love you” frequently.
Trait of a Good Mother #5: A good mother does not yell very frequently, if at all.
A good mother avoids yelling at her children. She tries her best to not raise her voice. She tries to always treat her child in a lovingly matter.
Trait of a Good Mother #6: A good mother strives to prepare nutritious meals for her children.
A good mother will try her best to see that her children are eating a well-balanced diet. Of course, she will allow her children to have an occasional treat as well.
Trait of a Good Mother #7:A good mother reads to her children often.
When her children are young, a good mother will read to her children often. This may include bedtime stories, or just a random story. As the children get older, a good mother will let her children read to her.
Trait of a Good Mother #8: A good mother helps her child make and develop friendships.
A good mother will help her children find opportunities to make new friends. This might be playgroups, trips to the playgroup, sports activities, church activities and more. Trait of a Good Mother #9: A good mother tries to spend quality one-on-one time with each child, even if it is just a rare occasion.

Trait of a Good Mother #10: A good mother does not tolerate sibling name-calling, fighting and rivalry.
A good mother will intervene when siblings call each other names and are just downright mean to each other. A good mother will teach her children to love their siblings.
