Would you pay $10 to watch other people eat and participate in an auction for really good bargains on some really great items? Yeah, me too.
Nick Saban, the coach for Alabama National Champions is going to be speaking tonight in Mobile, AL at the Mitchell Center as a fundraiser for Nick’s Kids Fund and Team Focus. The event has been dubbed “The Night of Champions”.
Team Focus was founded Mike Gottfried. They currently serve over 1,200 boys without fathers and want to increase the number to 6,000 plus. Gottfried said “we appreciate Nick’s and Terry’s help and the help of everyone in the Mobile area who attends ‘A Night of Champions’ and supports Team Focus.” Team focus is an outreach program which helps boys who do not have a strong father figure in their lives.
If you are one of the lucky ones who get to sit at a sponsor’s table that someone paid $800 for, or if you snagged an individual seat for $75 you get to sit at one of the tables, enjoy a wonderful dinner, and have the option to participate in the auction. If you are not one of these lucky few, too bad.
Oh, wait. There is another option. You can pay $10 to purchase a seat in the nose-bleed section, which is not on the floor where all the action will be.
You don’t however get to eat. You do get to watch others enjoy a wonderful mean.
You also don’t get to participate in the auctions. You can watch others get great deals on some fantastic items including sports memorabilia and an exclusive ticket package to the Alabama-Tennessee game, and other Alabama and Auburn items.
You don’t get to have your photo taken with Coach Saban or any or the former Alabama players or Joey Jones, the coach for South Alabama. You can take your own photos of you and your friends in the nose-bleed seats making fun of those on the floor enjoying themselves. Possibly, with a telephoto lens you can get a photo of Coach Saban, but that’s iffy at best.
You don’t get to meet Terry, Coach Saban’s wife who will also be participating in the event because you weren’t able to participate in the raffle for this honor.
You don’t get to schmooze with all the famous, want to be famous, and “who cares if I’m famous I have a seat on the floor” people. You can schmooze to your hearts delight with your friends.
Coach Saban will be speaking at this event. Hearing it in the nose-bleed seats could be a bit dicey. But then again, your seat only cost you $10 and you basically got nothing else for it. You might as well take you chance on hearing a few words from the Coach.
