Ways to Honor God – Faith in God requires us not only to believe, but also to act. How should we honor God? Different religions may have different answers to this question, but there are universal things we should all do in order to show our faith and thank God for the many blessings we have. It is not enough just to pray when we want something or attend church or synogage once a week. Live a virtuous life by honoring God and proving to God that you have faith.
It does not matter to whom or what organization we give money to. Give your 10 percent to your church, rabbi, or whoever. Giving away money to charity proves your faith in God that He will always find a way for you to have everything that you need. Charity helps open up your mind and relationship to God by showing him that you care about the needs of others too.
Even if you don’t have a lot of time there are plenty of ways to give. Giving opens us up to receiving. There are thousands of places you can give your time to. Help your church out with events and bring your family to help out too. Help the less fortunate by volunteering at a homeless shelter, women’s shelter, animal shelter. Spending time helping others opens your mind up to being more thankful for the things that you have been blessed with. Practice clearing your mind of negativity and spend time thinking about what a great day it will be and how you are thankful to be alive.
Value Your Family.
Being a parent, spouse, or both is a huge blessing. Treat your spouse well. Honor God and the oath you made to your spouse by making that person feel special every day. Treat your husband or wife with respect and honor your relationship above everything else. Spend quality time with your children every single day, even if your time is limited. Honor God by spending time with your elderly relatives. Getting old is hard especially if they are lonely. Make time for relatives that live far away by calling at least once a week. Time goes by very fast and you don’t want to regret not calling your elderly mother or aunt when it’s too late. Some day you might be old and alone too, set a good example for your children by showing them how you would like them to treat you. Don’t speak badly about your relatives either. Let your children make up their own minds and don’t prevent them from wanting to spend time with relatives.
Honor God by saying thanks. Get into a habit of saying thanks for every meal. Show God that you are thankful for everything you have by just saying it to yourself. At night before bed, don’t spend your time only asking for things. Open yourself up to being thankful for what you have. Go through a list every night and say a special thanks for the bed you sleep in, the clothes you have, your health, your family, your friends, your children, the meals you ate, the job you have, the home you live in, even say thank you for the hard times you’ve had. Show your faith by letting God know, all of the hard times are part of the master plan.
Meditate Every Morning
Honor God by taking five minutes to sit peacefully and meditate on how you would like your day to go. A famous Rabbi said “Your thoughts are wherever you are, make sure they are where you want them to be.” Practice clearing your mind of negativity and spend time thinking about what a great day it will be and how you are thankful to be alive.
