VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Season 3 Episode 4 Recap

by tiny swot

Here is everything you need to know about episode four of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. This week was action packed, but a lot of the cast members weren’t focused. Follow the underlined sections for the different stars that were creating the most drama this week. You can see the recaps for episodes 1-3 here.

Tom Sizemore Returns

Tom Sizemore returns the next morning after binging with his girlfriend unannounced. The girlfriend wishes him well and the night crew puts Tom to bed and then searches the entire facility. Any place Tom and his girlfriend were they must see is they stashed drugs. In the trashcan they find a heroin starter kit with matches, tinfoil, heroin, etc. He’s staying in Dennis Rodman’s room. Rodman stirs when he enters but promptly goes back to bed when they find a balloon of dope in his jeans Dr. Drew Checks on his from time to time as he sleeps it off which ends up being 2 days. When he finally wakes up he’s comforted by Heidi.

Side Note: Why does VH1 have to replay the clips from the promo like 4 million times? I heard the words, “Balloon of dope,” for a solid 5 minutes at the start of the episode.

Joey Kovar Opens Up and Goes Crazy

In group Real World Hollywood star Joey Kovar admits he’s so large and tough because he was beat up as a kid by other children and his parents. He shared a sad story of when he used to save up candy and give to the other kids so they’d play with him. They would enjoy his candy and let him play kickball. He says he does the same thing now only with drugs. He likes being popular and liked and will spend anything to have that feeling. I liked how he didn’t fight that truth and then admitted that he cries all the time, but he’s fine. Creepy Bob Forrest added that as an addict he would say he’s fine when he was dying inside. The group was touched by this.

After showing his soft side he calls his pregnant girlfriend who hurries through the conversation to ask when his next check is coming. Joey takes offence to this and gets angry. Heidi Fleiss who’s sitting across from him says that she would knock out her boyfriend if he talked to her that way and if she were him she’d do the same. This makes Joey even angrier and he hangs up after telling his girlfriend to get a job and he doesn’t need to know his business. He stomps around the facility getting angry at camera men for watching him make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Rodman corners him in the rec room and calms him down by sharing some of his wisdom. I mean if anyone knows anything about money problems and girlfriend problems it is the amazing Rodman. He suggests screwing Heidi and all the other naysayers. You can’t leave rehab with this problem so just have all your money sent to your agent since you’re not married. They talk more and Joey levels out a bit.

Expressive Therapy aka Breaking Stuff

Dr. Drew says everyone is detoxing and emotions are coming to the surface for the first time in a while leaving the group frustrated. He takes them to an expressive therapy session equivalent to what my friends and I would do in junk yards as kids. You’re supposed to destroy old TVs and cars while yelling about who you’re angry with. Take a hammer and mess up old cars. Mackenzie Phillips joins in yelling about her father. She’s nearly revealed to the group that she had a relationship with her father, but hasn’t yet. They simply know that she started using drugs when he shot her up with coke as a teenager. She smashes some card windows and some old computers.

Joey is build like a gorilla and commands a sledge hammer into everything in sight. Man is that guy ripped. He even scares lame-o group member Lisa D’Amato. No one else participates though which I found strange.

New Cast Member Kari Ann Peniche

Dr. Drew visits Kari Ann Peniche who was kicked off sex rehab when it was discovered she had a drug addiction and refused to participate and started attacking people. Dr. Drew is going to give her another chance in Celeb Rehab and she hands over all of her speed.

Rodman the Voice of Reason

Rodman seems to be the only sane person in the cast because whenever something crazy happens they cut to him because he usually has a genuine expression or something quick to say. At the same time Dennis seems to be creating or supporting a false self for the cameras. When asked a direct question he stumbles and then puts on a voice and doesn’t make eye contact.
