The chefs face quick-fire challenges, restaurant wars and are often given difficult ingredients. A prize based reality show, Survivor takes a group of people who must survive with a few given things and what they can find in an isolated location. They are divided into tribes and compete in challenges that involve teamwork and physical endurance, among other things. Then the contestants vote in secret who they believe should be eliminated until the Sole Survivor remains. You can watch the new season, Survivor, Heroes vs. Villains, on CBS beginning on February 11th.
ABC’s hit dating reality show centers around a bachelor looking for his future wife. He is introduced to a group of women who all live together while they compete for his love. Every week he goes on group or individual date to see who he is compatible with. There is than a rose ceremony where the bachelor gives a rose to each woman that he would like to stay. The next season of The Bachelor airs on Monday, January 4th at 8pm.
The Real World
This long running MTV reality show is about a group of young people living together in a well appointed loft, house or penthouse. Virtually all of their lives are filmed. This show depicts the drama, tension and sexual escapades of the house mates. Season 23, located in Washington, D.C., premieres on Wednesday, December 30th at 10pm.
Dancing with the Stars
A reality show that matches celebrities with champion ballroom dancers, Dancing with the Stars is one of the top 10 reality shows of the decade. Each dancing pair is rated by a panel of judges and the viewers. The scores are combined and each week the lowest scoring couple is kicked off until the winning pair is left. The new season of Dancing with the Stars will air in the spring, on ABC.

Overweight contestants compete to see who can lose the most weight on this top 10 reality show of the decade. They are separated into teams, given trainers that put them through hellish workouts and taught how to eat healthy. The contestant who loses the most weight wins a hefty cash prize. This is a cooking reality show that features Chef Gordon Ramsay, known for his loud, angry ranting. He presides over two teams of chefs who must prepare a full service dinner for the diners at the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. Chef Gordon Ramsay eliminates one chef a week until the winner is chosen. Another competition based reality show, this one is about partners who race around the world following clues and completing challenges. Along the way partners can be eliminated based on their performance. The couple who completes the last part of the race first wins the grand prize.
