President Obama is once more on a tour. This time it is his “Don’t-listen-to-them-listen-to-me” tour. He is in Nevada to try and bolster support for the battered Senate majority Leader Harry Reid. And he is still touting the line that Republicans are just out to say “no” to everything. In his State of the Union speech he said ” if anyone from either party has a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medicare for seniors, and stop insurance company abuses, let me know. Let me know. Let me know. I’m eager to see it.”
Guess he never saw the five or six suggestions from Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), or the bills from the House that reflected more fiscal conservatism and more the desires of the American people. I know Pelosi never saw them because she BANNED Republicans from offering up any bills or amendments right from the start of the session back in January 2009. And even if Harry Reid saw them he just tossed them into the circular file of Democratic backroom deals. But for the President to claim ignorance is truly unbelievable.
And he is still of the belief that he just “didn’t explain [health care reform] properly.” As if we’re stupid and we just don’t have the smarts to understand such a complicated issue. It seems to me that it is the Administration who just doesn’t understand. As he pushes for more and more money to be printed and borrowed, Americans stand jaw agape. Because we know that if you don’t have money for something, you tighten your belt and buck up. This is a concept that Washington has long since forgotten, or abandoned. They want your vote, they will promise everyone everything to get your vote. Then they forget about all that in order to cater to special interests. But there are fewer and fewer people that believe these entitlements are free. When I was younger, there was an old line from somewhere. TANSTAAFL! Which means, “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.”
It is high time the President stop campaigning and start focusing on being the President of the United States, not just the President of the Democratic Party. He should stop going out to try and save the job of a man who has stood in the way of real work being accomplished in DC, and a symbol of all that is wrong with Washington politics. Obama needs to be true to his State of the Union address and tell all the members of Congress to stop these school yard antics and get down to the business the American people voted them in for in the first place. And he needs to take the TEA party movement seriously. The movement represents Americans, despite the attempted co-opting by Republicans and dismissing by Democrats, who want Washington to get on with the business of the American people. Which means to stop intruding on private lives and return to the duties outlined by the Constitution.
As I and many others have pointed out, this health care reform issue is not as complicated as they would have you believe. And the bills they have offered up are nowhere near the solution to the problems (not crisis) of health care in this country. yet the President continues in his delusional belief that it needs to keep being pushed forward. The hits he says he’s been taking (“Health care has been knocking me around pretty good,”) should be the proof he needs to see the American public’s disapproval of not only the bills bu the process. yet his eyes remain closed. I prefer to think that it comes from a deep misunderstanding, or at the very least listening to some people who have a poor understanding, of the views of average Americans. I try not to say Obama has an agenda that would take this country from its roots in freedom and establish a socialist nation. Others may say this, but I want to not believe it.
Doesn’t mean I’ll ignore some of the things he has been doing to push it that way. I just prefer it is from ignorance rather than an agenda.
Health care is a serious concern and deserves serious solutions. Not the Cornhusker Kickback or the Louisiana Purchase debacles that have haunted this process. People who deserve to be taken care of in our society, the elderly, the disabled and those who have served should be taken care of. Those who are able bodied need to get off their duffs and off the public dole. This would protect the Medicare/Medicaid system. Tort reform would address the cost issue. And portability of plans would create more competition and better service for those with insurance that doesn’t quite meet their needs. These are just some ideas, sensible ideas that the President and the entitlement people are ignoring.
If I can see this and others can see this, it is high time that Obama, Pelosi, Reid and all those out there who have forgotten who they work for should be able to see it as well.
Agree, disagree, doesn’t matter. Just start thinking for yourself and see the unworkability of what they have on the books right now. Think about what you would do. Just, for goodness sakes, THINK. Whether you think me harsh or right on the money, it doesn’t matter. Because this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.
Have a great day.
