Things I’m Tired of Hearing in the News

by tiny swot

I don’t watch a lot of news, mainly because it depresses me. Oh, yeah, every once in a while you hear an uplifting story about someone doing something nice for someone, or maybe there’s a heartwarming story about two long-lost sweethearts finding each other again. Primarily, though, it’s one story that’s done to death.

The funny thing is that even though I don’t watch a lot of news on TV, I seem to get a lot of it from reading or I guess through osmosis. But enough is enough on some of these things.

First, I’ve exhausted my patience on the Tiger Woods fiasco. Yeah, the man committed adultery. Big woo, it’s not like he invented it for goodness sake. He just managed to get away with it for long enough that when the little woman found out, it became major news. And to make matters worse, just as it’s beginning to not be on the tip of everybody’s lips, here he comes out and admits he’s got a problem. You think? Pretty much any woman in America could have told you that if you’d just asked. Next time you’re in doubt about what to do in a situation with a beautiful woman, ask Mama, she’ll tell you.

Second, I’m tired of hearing about people killing innocent people just because they get mad at one person. I ask you, where is the rationale in that? What purpose does it solve if I go shoot the trash man if I’m mad at the mayor? I say, if you got a problem with someone, confront them and even take a swing at them if it’ll make you feel better, but leave the weapons at home.

Next is church burning. Good grief! What kind of lunatic goes out and burns down a church in the middle of the night? And for some reason, these people, if they don’t get caught, will go burn another one. The churches are usually not even the same denomination. I say, if you’re mad at God, then take it up with Him and leave the buildings alone. And if you’re just a fire fanatic, burn your own house down.

Politicians are not high on my list either. I’m getting to the point of nauseous just listening to the same old rhetoric we’ve been hearing for months and months. Everything is everyone else’s fault because they won’t work together. So what’s new about that? Conflict has always been the whole basis of politics, one side wants what they want and vice versa. Get it together, guys, and get something done, or just keep your faces off the news.

Last, I’m tired of looking at pictures of cars running off the road in areas that get snowy and icy weather conditions. We get it, okay? If it snows, the roads get slick. We all know there’s going to be some people who are still going to get out there, even though you tell them it’s dangerous. They’re the same idiots that are going to drive too fast and often drive drunk. We really don’t need to see pictures of them standing outside a car mumbling, “I don’t know what happened.”

Surely, there are other things going on around the world. I’m not asking for miracles, but as big as this world is and so many people inhabit it, I would just be willing to bet my lunch money that those reporters can find something different to report. Why not give it a try?
