The remaining eight guys took to the American Idol stage in an episode that started out dull but had a huge “wow” performance at the end. Read on to find out which American Idol contestants performed well and which contestants stand a good shot of not making it to the American Idol final 12.
Lee Dewyze began the show by singing “Fireflies” – The judges felt that the song was a strange song for him to choose. I enjoyed his rendition and think that there is a nice quality to his voice. I think he should make it to the final 12 on American Idol next week.
Alex Lambert sang “Trouble” – Lambert has been showing improvement over the last several weeks. The judges felt that while he sounded good his performance was too stiff. I thought his performance was good and would expect him to make the American Idol final 12.
Tim Urban sang Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” Ellen thought he did so well that she ran up on stage and hugged him. His eyes looked like they were welling up with tears when Kara told him that he was back in the running. I thought his rendition was excellent. If Urban doesn’t make it to the American Idol final 12, he has been robbed.
Andrew Garcia sang Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” – Randy thought it was an interesting song choice, but it didn’t really work. Ellen liked his performance and thought that America would too. I did not like it at all and can easily see him not making it to the American Idol final 12.
Casey James sang Keith Urban’s “You’ll Think of Me” – Randy thought it was a safe choice, but Ellen thought that it was a great performance. Kara said that she is “kinda back on the Casey train.” Randy thought it was his second best performance. I thought it was a good performance. Besides being nice to look at, he really does have a good voice.
Aaron Kelly sang Lone Star’s “I’m Already There” – Simon thought it was a nice song, and he sang it well. There were a few issues in the beginning, but overall it was a pretty good performance. I think it is up in the air whether he will make it to the American Idol final 12.
Todrick Hall sang Queen’s “Somebody to Love” Randy thought it was one of the best vocals of the night. Simon thought that he showed that he is more suited to be a Broadway singer than a recording star. I wasn’t crazy about his performance and think that he may not make it to perform with the final 12 American Idol performers next week.
Michael Lynche sang Maxwell’s “This Woman’s Work” – I have to say that I am amazed that such a big guy can reach those high notes. He is a really good singer, and the judges agreed. Kara was even moved to tears. Big Mike will surely make it to American Idol’s top 12. Simon called it the best performance of the season so far.
IThe contestants who are in the greatest jeopardy of not making it to the final twelve are in my opinion Andrea Garcia, Todrick Hall, Aaron Kelly and maybe Alex Lambert.
