The Best Locally Owned Burger Joints in Nashville, TN

by tinyswot

Brown’s Diner – 2102 Blair Blvd.

Brown’s Diner is the type of place that should be featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive In’s and Dives. From the outside it resembles a run down trailer and the inside has the charm of a B movie set. Exactly why I loved it so much, not to mention the staff of characters that are absolutely endearing. If you are not from Nashville I say you would appreciate this most. People who are from a big city like myself may enjoy this stripped down laid back friendly southern vibe. The famous burger they serve that was voted Best Burger in Nashville by Urban Spoon, is a bite of Nostalgia. For just $4.25 you can sink your teeth into the baddest burger in the south. They offer live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays, http://www.pbase.com/deadelvis/
It is a really fun casual kick your heals up night out. Not only is the food great but you can treat yourself to an ice cold beer for only $3.00 that pairs ever so nicely with your famous Brown’s burger.

The Melrose – 2535 Franklin Pike

Makes me feel like a kid again, burgers served in baskets with waffle fries. The aroma smells like my youth. A magnetic neighborhood bar that has the juiciest burgers and the juiciest crowd in town. The dark smoky semblance coupled with the “Cheers” hospitality is an added bonus. Not only do they have the mouthwatering Angus beef chopped steak for only $6.95 they have a variety of delectable bites like their signature spinach artichoke dip for $7.95. The Melrose also offers happy hour Mon – Fri from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm as well as two for one Thurdays and Tues Trivia night. This is a non smoking environment but they do offer a cool smoking patio. Open daily from 11:00 am – 2:00 am serving food until 1:00 AM. The staff is sleek and mysterious and very attentive.

Gabby’s Burgers and Fries – 493 Humphrey’s Street

Gabby’s is the burger specialist, with a small strong menu consisting of burgers, hot dogs and chili, they are by far the best burger taste blast. The owner Doug has really turned this into a family within a family. The sweetest man, who’s dream was to open up a restaurant where people would be satisfied, who would keep coming back for more without having to break the bank. He named this sweet spot after his daughter Gabriella. Which brought him luck since their first year opened they were voted best burger 2009, by The Nashville Scene. The “Best Burger” and that is what it is appropriately named on the menu, the best $5.95 I have ever spent. This is a grass fed beef burger that is so succulent and aqueous it should be against the law. If meat is not your thing you must try the Colleen Burger(named after Gabby’s mom) this is the best veggie burger I have ever experienced. They create this magical little number with black beans, brown rice, bbq sauce and egg whites for just $6.95. All orders come with three different choices of sides, fresh cut french fries, sweet potato fries or Pasta Salad. The layout of the joint very much feels like you are in your neighbor’s home except for the really charming counter that makes me feel like I am back in Brooklyn at my favorite diner. This quaint little eatery is mainly open for lunch, Mon – Thurs 10:30 am – 2:30 pm and open a bit later on Friday from 10:30 am – 7:30 pm.
