Dodge has released the all-new Challenger this year and whether or not the car lives up to it’s reputation is definitely debatable.
Dodge is offering the Challenger for as low as $23,460. The average cost of this car is $22,838 to $30,757. This car is readily available on the Dodge website and is available for financing if the consumer qualifies.
The Dodge website shows many features of the new Dodge Challenger, which includes the choice of a 3.5 liter V6 or 5.7 liter V8 engine, automatic or manual transmission, and the more expensive models offer a 3.06 Rear Axle Ratio. All models come with Media Center 130 CD/MP3 Radio, 4 speakers, antenna in rear window, cloth bucket seats with a low back, and more features you can view here on the Dodge website. Extra features for the more expensive models include places to anchor a child seat, 18 inch x 7. Inch aluminum wheels, and P235/55R 18 BSW all season Perf Michelin Tires. There are also many other additional features that you can view here www.dodge.com
There are also some disadvantages to the Dodge Challenger. According to an article written for US. News, Dodge Challenger- What the Auto Press Says, the Dodge Challenger was ranked 3 out of 4 for all muscle cars even though drivers that take a test ride say that it does not have enough power to live up to it’s name of “muscle car”. Another big con of this car is that its roof design limits the driver’s ability to see the rear corners of the car. The article also states that the 2010 Dodge Challenger earned a perfect score in the crash tests for the front and side. But only earned four stars in rollover tests. This car got an overall score of 8.3 from U.S. News.
Modern Racer reviewed this car and found the pros of the Dodge Challenger to be, the aggressive retro styling, a powerful Hemi engine, it is comfortable to drive and ride in, has plenty of headroom for taller people, and that is handles well. They found the cons to be, that the handling is only average, there is not very much legroom for rear passengers, dull interior design, and that the car probably shouldn’t be as big as it is.
The Dodge Challenger seems ideal for someone who wants a powerful car that is not too much. It is not very expensive compared to a lot of cars released in 2010. Someone who wants big, mean looking car would love the Dodge Challenger. Unfortunately, this car is not really a family car. I would not recommend this car to any family, as it has a cramped back seat and it is more a sports car rather than a family-friendly vehicle.
For anyone thinking about purchasing the new Dodge Challenger, I would suggest to view Dodge’s website and check out all of the features available and make sure that this is the car for you. Although the Challenger is very attractive in price and look it does lack in many departments for some one who is looking for a fast sports car.
