Each day that goes by, there are numerous fashion mistakes that happen in this world. Some are made by celebrities and some made by your neighbor that leaves the house wearing spandex, when you and her both know that is not something anyone should see! There is so much emphasis on what you wear in society today, that there is an absolute need for a list of fashion mistakes you should not make. While browsing the list below, I am sure you can find one, if not more, mistake that you or someone you know has made! Let’s kick these mistakes to the curb and move on fashion forward style!
Do NOT wear a colored undergarments under white pants or a white T-shirt: One would think this would fall under the “common sense” law, but for some people it doesn’t. Nothing is worse than seeing someone walking in front of you wearing white pants/capris/skirt and you can see their colored thong or undies. Its actually quite trashy looking to be honest, and it definitely isn’t “cute”. The colored bra under the white shirt is not as bad as the visible undies, but it is not good either. They make white bras for a reason ladies!
Do it yourself tanning lotion: This one is more common than you might think. With summer coming up, this is going to be one you will be seeing more and more. Everyone loves to be tan for the summer, but some go above and beyond tan and become ORANGE! Self tanner just isn’t for everyone. Girls walk around with orange palms and splotchy due to overuse or not applying enough tanner. Please girls, wash your hands after applying tanner! Orange palms are NOT a new trend! If you are looking for a quick tan, try going to the local tanning salon and getting a spray on tan. This will ensure a more even look and avoid looking like carrot walking down the street!
Leggings and Tights are NOT for everyone: If you could count the times you have seen this fashion no-no, you would be rich for sure. Tights and leggings are a great fashion piece, but not when they are worn in the wrong way. Most women have a general idea of their actual size, so why on earth someone who knows they wouldn’t look good in tight form fitting clothing wears them anyway, is a mystery. Not wearing tights and leggings doesn’t just apply to heavier women either. Some women that have skinnier legs are not flattered with tights or leggings. It makes their legs almost appear skinnier than they actually are.
Mix and matching prints on clothing: Again, this should be a “common sense” fashion law, but sadly it isn’t. Please don’t wear stripes with polka dots or any other weird combination of prints. If you are wearing something like printed, a solid top or bottom is the best suited regardless of the print type. Keep in mind, busier outfits aren’t always the best choice.
Over doing the accessories: This is one mistake that may surprise you. Jewelry is a fabulous tool to help make an outfit stand out in a crowd. A few pieces will do the trick, there isn’t a need for bulky jewelry all over the place. If you keep it simple you won’t have to worry. A good example of a good use of jewelry is a pair of earrings, a simple necklace, and a bracelet or brooch. A fashion no-no is funky earrings, over-sized necklace, stack of bangle bracelets and a funky pin or brooch. You don’t want to be more dramatic with your jewelry than you are with your outfit.
Wearing graphic print t-shirts: This is a hit and miss mistake. In appropriate situations, the shirts wouldn’t be terribly bad. These tees just don’t make for cute statement. What you you think if you saw a middle aged woman walking down the street wearing a shirt that said something like “I stole your boyfriend” or “Hot to trot”. Yeah, its just not appropriate. If you’re a teen girl or even a pre-teen girl, these shirts are still considered alright to wear. The cut off would definitely be highschool. Any older than that and you just look desperate for attention and just plain silly.
Wearing red and green in collaboration: What in the world are you thinking? It is NOT Christmas all year round! Seriously though, these two colors clash. They offset each other and just look terrible together. When wearing either color, just opt out using the other. This is a pretty simple mistake to avoid, yet you would be surprised at how many people make this mistake! Typically finding it being done with green eyeshadow and red lipstick. Just remember, Christmas comes once a year, so leave the red and green apart!
Wearing to much make up: This has to be the worst one out there! How many times have you seen someone on the street and thought they were a clown? Too many more than likely. When you wear make up, its alright to make a statement, but don’t overdo it ! There is no need for bright blue eyeshadow, thick black eyeliner, rosy red cheeks, and bright lipstick! Try to keep your make up looking au natural and you won’t have to worry about this mistake. Every once in a while, a little bold make up is perfectly fine, but if you’re leaving the house with five pounds of it on your face, its probably too much! Remember in this case, less is definitely more!
Clothes that don’t fit: This goes for people of all sizes. Poor fitting clothing makes you look plain sloppy. If you’re on the thinner side, there is no need to have shirts that drop to your knees or have pants that you could fit three of you in. It makes you look heavier than you are and just plain sloppy. If you are a little heavier and buying your clothes one or more sizes to small, you are NOT doing yourself any justice. It will make you appear heavier than you are and also more trashy. If your goal is to have a little over size to wear with a high waisted belt or something of that nature, then by all means, go for it. But, if you’re just used to being “comfy” and buying bigger clothes, snap out of it!
Unkempt dyed hair: This is another popular mistake. Everyone wants to have the perfect hair color, so they turn to either using at home dye or go into a salon and have it done for them. If you go this route, you MUST keep up with it. It is not appealing to see a woman walking down the street with platinum hair and black roots! This is also the same for women that go darker, no one wants to see a woman with black hair walking down the street with dirty blonde roots. Bottom line is, if you cannot afford to keep up with coloring your hair, just don’t do it.
There are probably hundreds of these types of mistakes made daily. Let’s just hope some of these women get their hands on this and get a clue!
