It’s Saturday and that means it is time for Story Saturday. Story Saturday is when I will tell you a story from my life. It may be short and sweet. It may be sad. It may be funny. It may have a moral. I may just be confusing. It is just to give you a glimpse into my life.
Obviously, I’ve not been able to write much. This is not my ideal situation since this is my job. I need to make money to pay my bills. However, a lot has been happening. It started out with me being sick and planning on being able to write once I got better. However, one weekend, I had to go take the test to apply for the census. The testing was easy. However, I was not able to find my birth certificate (I was born in Michigan, not Louisiana) or my Social Security Card. I applied for another Social Security Card and I got a paper saying that I should have it within two weeks of applying. When I brought the paper down to the Census Office to show that I had applied, they told me they could not take that and somebody guessed that I should have the card by Thursday. Now, I’ve had a very rude person call, named Marge, who insisted that I must bring my card to them by Monday. I kept telling her that they guessed I’d have it by Thursday. I told her that I would bring my Social Security Card down once it was sent to me, but she kept being rude saying that she’ll write down the information that I will bring the card by Thursday, not once it gets sent to me. She’s acting like I can control the government and the postal system.
On a much happier note, another thing that has kept me busy is looking for a decent video editor for Ubuntu Linux. Some people in a LiveJournal forum for Ubuntu users lead me to a program called OpenVideo. OpenVideo works, so I’m happy, even if the program just seems to disappear from my screen every once in awhile. It’s rare, though, so I wonder if I’m doing something to make it happen, too.
The really important part for my readers and for me is something that I have been considering for awhile. I signed up for an Amazon CreateSpace account. I’d have to learn some things about using it, but that’s not a big deal. I am thinking of converting some of the brain teasers featuring Ace into a form that would work for a book. Obviously, it would not be quite the same as they appear online, but they would be there.
The person reading the teaser would need to read the answer to figure out if the answers to the questions were yes or no (there would be a guide with some of the questions in the back). Then, that person could quiz others.
Would you be interested in buying such a book?
How many brain teasers should go into the book?
What should be the price of the book?
I’ve no experience with any of this, but it sounds like something that would be fun and that people would like. I’d hope that I’m correct in guessing this.
I’m trying to figure out a decent price that would also get me at least a half decent profit from the book sales. (Not that it’d have to be a big profit, but just something half decent that would lead to a decent price for the book.)
