Ask for a romantic restaurant in Columbus and The Refectory is almost always near the top of the list. Located on Bethel Road in Upper Arlington, the site was once a church and schoolhouse in the 19th century. Now with ever-changing menu options, this fine French restaurant offers up amazing food and atmosphere for your special dinner. Chef Richard Blondin prepares a full dinner menu plus a lighter Bistro menu nightly-and even a First Fridays menu which highlights a revered French Chef on the first Friday of each month. You will also find a number of vegetarian options and gluten free availability if desired. The Refectory serves dinner Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sundays. If you wish to order from either the popular Bistro Menu or will be dining on a First Friday, you should request those menus as you place your reservation as there are limited numbers of those meals prepared. While reservations are not required, they are recommended for Friday or Saturday evenings and can be made by phone or online.
The Short North area offers another of Columbus’ best romantic dining locations in L’Antibes . While small, the dining area is well spaced and diners do not feel cramped or rushed. In fact, the pace of the restaurant is often quite slow and relaxed-adding to the appeal for romantic, special meals. The menu and wine list change frequently, but both offers fine selections. The Worthington Inn
If you are looking for something a little less pricey with just as much romantic appeal, The Worthington Inn is a must. With most entrees, including the popular Beef Worthington, under $30, this restaurant appeals to somewhat smaller special occasion budgets. Once a Victorian era hotel, the restaurant maintains that romantic, unrushed feel, serving lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday with an extremely popular Sunday brunch. Reservations are available both by phone and online.
Yet another special find takes diners to Reynoldsburg, an eastside Columbus Suburb. Scali Ristorante, from its strip mall location off Route 256, offers an amazing atmosphere and traditional Italian meal suitable for those romantic dinners out. The quality of the food is always superb-and the prices, with dinner meal entrees under $20, are something unheard of for the quality in the area. The restaurant serves lunch on Thursdays and Fridays and offers dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays. The homemade ravioli and the panna cotta are frequent favorites.
