When you work for the state highway department you are a state employee and are granted the state benefits, which typically are better than many other jobs. Applying for a job with the Idaho Highway Department is the first step in securing a position that can be a rewarding career.

Determine what jobs are currently available in the Idaho Department of Transportation. You can use the Idaho Department of Labor’s search engine or the Federal Job Search website to find out if there are any positions open. The search query allows you to search by keywords and narrow it down to counties or zip codes. If you want to see all available jobs in the state that are related to the keyword you can leave the area field blank. Apply online for open positions. You can apply online at the Idaho Transportation Department’s web page. Here, you can apply for specific jobs. You can also email the Idaho Transportation Department’s recruiter to find out about openings and requirements that the state might have concerning job openings. The web page also has a temporary application that you can download and fax back, mail or drop off at their Boise location.

The Idaho Department of Transportation’s web page also has a portal that you can create a login name and password for and use to view your application and its status. If the position you are applying for has testing requirements you can find your test results on this portal. If you make it through the testing to the hiring phase, you can also view that information on the portal page. Register with Idaho Works System. The Idaho Works System is a division of the Idaho Department of labor. It is designed for both state employees and people who are looking to become state employees. Once you are registered with the system you can search for jobs, apply for positions and more. The system also helps you upload your resume or create one if you need to.

In addition to searching for jobs you can set up an alert that will email you when a job matching your criteria becomes available. You can access your account information anytime and see what the status of any applications you have submitted are. In conclusion, applying for a position with the Idaho Highway Department isn’t difficult but if you follow the above mentioned steps, you will certainly have a better chance of getting noticed and ultimately hired.
