While not everyone will find a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver a worthwhile investment getting that music easily to a speaker or headset without the hassles of cables comes in handy. The BluBridge Traveler receiver and transmitter set costs about $70 and the BluBridge mini-jack transmitter costs about $60 and is available from several online retailers.
The transmitter device that BluBridge has available for use with any stereo 3.5mm input and charges using a mini-B USB connection is called the mini-jack while the full receiver and transmitter is the BluBridge Traveler. The mini-jack is your all around portable device small enough to connect to an MP3 player like my SanDisk Sansa View that connects your player to any Bluetooth speaker system or headset.
The device works with simple push button pairing and with my Com-One Bluetooth speakers both the mini-jack and Traveler worked just fine without having to mess with pairing codes. I tried both the Traveler and the mini-jack by simply connecting my Sansa View, my PC and my new Vizio television audio output to the 3.5mm jack and streamed music using Bluetooth to the Com One speakers.
The Com One speaker set uses simple pairing without codes and you just set up your transmitter and press the pairing button on the speaker control to pair the speakers with the transmitter. The pairing for the mini-jack and the Traveler worked every time and music played just fine from as far as 40 to 45 feet in my house.
If you start putting walls in the way the distance goes down for my plaster and lathe walls that I have found does not work well with transmitting Bluetooth signals through. I have set up the Com One speakers in my kitchen and used my PC to transmit the music from my playlists to the kitchen while I work in there cooking or dong more reviews.
I found that using a regular 6 foot stereo audio cable and getting the mini-jack transmitter more in line of sight to my kitchen and the speakers setting on the counter makes for an easy setup. This also worked just as well using the Traveler that combines both a transmitter and receiver so if you have a set of speakers that do not have a Bluetooth receiver you can use the the Traveler to receive for your speakers.
The mini-jack transmitter comes with the transmitter itself which is about 2 inches by an inch and a 1/2 inch wide, the USB mini-B cable and instructions. The Traveler Wireless stereo transmitter and receiver comes with a bit more including the transmitter/receiver, a stand for the transmitter, AC USB mini-B power adapter, 3.5mm stereo to RCA cable, 3.5mm stereo cable, USB mini-B cable and instructions.
Both the Traveler and the mini-jack work as easily to transmit but the Traveler also acts as a receiver simply by flipping the small switch on the top to Rx. The Traveler has a power button, the transmit and receive button and a pairing button on it and a few LED indicators while the mini-jack has a single pairing button/LED indicator.
Both devices are very easy to use and I found quite handy if you’re looking for a simple to use Bluetooth transmitter or transmitter and receiver. My house has the living room at the front of the house with my kitchen at the back and my dining room in between.
I had no problems streaming the stereo output of my television or PlayStation 3 from my living room some 45 feet from the transmitter to the receiver in my kitchen with a speaker set. The distance is no problem and only when I try to go through a couple of my plaster and lathe walls or the brick chimney in the kitchen wall do I have problems receiving and transmitting the 40 to 45 feet from the front to the back of my house.
Both the BluBridge mini-jack and the Traveler from Miccus make a great transmitter and the traveler also receives as well for the best of both Bluetooth worlds. If you’re looking for a Bluetooth transmitter for an MP3 player or a combined transmitter receiver BluBridge has what you need in the mini-jack and Traveler Bluetooth devices.
I highly recommend the BluBridge mini-jack and the Traveler for transmitting and receiver Bluetooth stereo audio with simple one button pairing. Miccus also has a transmitter much like the mini-jack for the IPod and other Apple devices that is especially design for the iPod connection available just like the other BluBridge products at their website and several other inline and retail locations.
