Exo 13:19 Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for Joseph had made the sons of Israel solemnly swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones with you from here.”
When reading this scripture, I thought to myself, why would anyone want to pack around a dead man? Well in the sense that this scripture was actually meant for it arrived to my mind that Moses was doing a good thing on the literal side of this scripture.
But the question ” Why would anyone want to pack around a dead man? ” was still in my mind. This week for me was a rough week at work and at home. I was going along with my week enjoying and basking in the Son’s Light when all the sudden ” BAM” I hit this roadblock. The Lord has His way of saying the vacation is over, if you know what I mean. Well, there was this thing in my mind that came to surface like a bad toothache. Everyone that knows our Lord knows that when you’re born again the struggle is not over and the battle of waging a war goes on more so now than before we were born again. Paul speaks explicitly about the war that raged in his members. For me, and what I have come to under stand, this is the war of the mind. I know that this sounds a little off track. Be patient with me for a moment and all this will line up as I go along.
You see the Lord has a way of saying to you and showing you that the old creature is still waging war within your members as Paul would put it in “Rom 7:23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members”. You see we still pack around Old Bones no matter how Holy we think we are and no matter how hard, nor how much we feed our mind with the things of God, it still comes down to this one thing, We are still sinners with vain imaginations running wild. You see the thought life of a born again believer can either be the fall of the walk in faith, or it can be one filled with the Holy Word of our Lord. How many of us are still packing around the Old Bones? I wish I could tell you that it will all go away within a matter of minutes, days and months and years. But I cannot tell you that and still be a born again believer. I would not be telling you the truth, if I said that to you. No, it wont go away that easy.
You see before we were born again, we born sinners even while our Lord was on the cross. We were conceived in sin and born into sin and spent all of our lives in sin. This is what we know by our own nature. We call it today 2nd nature.
In, Mat 9:17 Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.”
Jesus can come in a clean the house and make us pure. But it is up to us with the aide of the Holy Spirit to renew our minds. Change the way we think and subdue the vain thoughts(imaginations) that we have every single moment of every minute of every day for the rest of our lives. Bring your sin thoughts into captivity. When you have done that then with the authority that has been given you by Christ our Lord put those thoughts to judgement by the commandments of our Lord. Those thoughts will be condemed by the commandments of our Lord. Put your old man in his place. I will leave this scripture with you to think about, in Rom 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
