Scheduled to open early this spring at the Universal Orlando Resort, the wizarding world of Harry Potter has nearly become a reality for Potter fans. The Harry Potter theme park is meant to be a true Hogwarts experience for its guests, created by Warner Brothers, from a trip to Ollivander’s to a mug of real-life butterbeer.
“Harry Potter continues to spark the imaginations of fans of all ages and we really have seen the anticipation continue to build for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” said Brad Globe, President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Whether you have read the series, watched the films, or done both – if you are a fan, you have probably envisioned a trip to Hogwarts yourself at one point. As Harry Potter author JK Rowling has said: “The plans I’ve seen look incredibly exciting, and I don’t think fans of the books or films will be disappointed.”
About the World of Harry Potter
Harry was a young boy of eleven living with his cruel aunt and uncle when he was suddenly thrust into the world of witchcraft and wizardry. He was first introduced to Diagon Alley, a sort of village where wizards can find items they will find nowhere else in London. Students can take a trip through the Leaky Cauldron to buy their wands, robes, schoolbooks, and more in Diagon Alley.
The Hogwarts Express takes students to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where they will soon be sorted into their various Houses and meet all kinds of new creatures, from house elves to ghosts and more. Students in their third year of school are able to visit Hogsmeade, another wizarding village where they are able to visit various shops or sit down and have a hot butterbeer.
What I Hope to See in the Harry Potter Theme Park
I have read all the books in the series and, as a huge Harry Potter fan, I hope to visit the Harry Potter theme park someday and experience the magic myself. Since I am not sure about the exact details of the park, here are a few things I hope to see in the Harry Potter theme park:
Diagon Alley: I would like to be able to visit Ollivanders for a wand or Madam Malkin’s for robes, and to be able to sit down at the Leaky Cauldron. It would also be fun to browse through a magical bookstore or to shop for a magical pet.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry: There will be a Hogwarts castle where fans can experience the magic themselves. I would like to be able to tour the castle and to imagine that I am actually a student there.
Hogsmeade Village: It would be fun to sit down in the Hog’s Head or tour the Shrieking Shack. It would be really cool to visit the Weasley twins’ joke shop – Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
Hogwarts Express: Guests will be greeted by the whistle of the Hogwarts Express as it arrives into Hogsmeade Station. Wouldn’t it be fun if visitors could take a ride on the Hogwarts Express?
Of course, there will be other Hogwarts-themed rides and adventures to embark on, as well. With the opening of the Harry Potter theme park, Harry is able to live on in his fans’ imaginations.
