Missing baby Gabriel Johnson a $20,000 diamond and ruby ring, human trafficking claims, and more are hot topics. Gabriel Johnson was last seen sometime around December 26th with his mother, Elizabeth Johnson, in San Antonio, Texas. Elizabeth lost custody of the infant to his father, Logan McQueary, and subsequently fled the Arizona community where she lived. She missed a key court date, and when authorities found her in Miami Florida, she was charged with kidnapping and custodial interference.
Initially, Elizabeth told Logan that she killed their son and stuffed his body in a diaper bag and threw it away in a dumpster. She said once she got to Mexico, she would tell him where to find their baby’s “little blue” body. As chilling as this is, McQueary still thinks that his son, Gabriel Johnson, is alive and well.
If Elizabeth was found without their baby, then where could he be if he’s not dead? Johnson also said she handed her little treasure off to a couple in a San Antonio park. She had been trying to arrange an adoption prior to fleeing with her son, but Logan wouldn’t co-operate.
Reports indicate that when Elizabeth Johnson was located in Miami, Florida she had a ring in her pocket. This diamond and ruby ring is worth a reported $20,000. What does this mean? Well, McQueary is certain that his son is still alive. He said as long as he’s known the baby’s mother, she never owned a ring like she was found with.
Where’s the ring now? Some say her grandfather has it, although everyone has denied being given a ring by Johnson.
So why would someone trade a ring for a baby? Adoptions are hard, and adopting Gabriel Johnson would be impossible without the agreement of Logan McQueary. Under the table adoptions typically exchange cash or jewelry for the child. Which is harder to track? Jewelry.
Still yet, authorities are treating the Gabriel Johnson case as a homicide. When they searched the hotel room where Elizabeth Johnson last had her baby boy, they found all his belongings and no diaper bag. This goes back to the initial communications with the father that indicated that she stuffed the child’s body in a diaper bag and disposed of him. Now, there’s a huge search going on in a San Antonio landfill.
Trained professionals must dig up to 30 feet searching for the baby’s body. Everyone is still hoping that some couple, some where has this child.
Elizabeth Johnson was seen with her small son on December 26th at a Six Flags in San Antonio. Those in the know in the underground adoption and human trafficking circles indicate that such meeting places are perfect for young mothers to meet with potential adoptees. There are lots of people around, a lot of commotion, and it would be hard to catch the transaction take place on a security camera.
The whole story is heartbreaking. It’s hard to imagine why a mother wouldn’t want to have her baby around. It’s also hard to imagine why a mother who didn’t want her baby wouldn’t want the baby to be with his or her father.
Still yet, I would personally prefer if Gabriel Johnson is a victim of human trafficking over being killed. That is, if he was given to a family that would raise him and love him like their own. Unfortunately, if no body is found in the San Antonio landfill and no leads to the baby’s whereabouts pop up, then the case will likely grow cold and could become an unsolved mystery.
