I got a real kick out of an article written by Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper, “Reacting to Mass. Rebellion, White House Beefs Up Outside Political Arm”. The fact that the progressive Democrats are running scared after the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Like a friend of mind said, “The progressive Democrats (Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al) look like craw fish scurrying backward in the mud.”
What really intrigued me more than the actual article, although it was well written, was the play on words: Mass Rebellion. It has so many undertones of meaning; and this, coming from a White House correspondent! Of course, the more-or-less standard abbreviation for Massachusetts is ‘MA’, but ‘Mass.’ (with a period) is also an acceptable abbreviation. My personal preference is without the period. As in ‘massive rebellion’. That is exactly what I believe should happen at the election polls come November.
I think the American citizens should have a massive uprising and vote every Congressional incumbent, with possibly a few exceptions, out of office. It doesn’t matter whether they are Democrats or Republicans. In my opinion, almost every one of them believe they are American Royalty and entitled to do what ever they think is best for them and their cronies, despite what the majority of American citizens want. Meetings and decisions conducted behind closed doors, indeed! In my opinion, that reeks of corruption, special interest and vote-buying.
Various polls have shown that the majority of American citizens are more concerned with the economy and job creation, than in a bogus, inflated, government controlled, kill grandma, health care system. If we had any type of true representation in Congress (Democrat, Republican, or other), these people would be creating programs to help the average citizen find respectable work, not bailing out fat-cats with massive bonuses.
During the ‘Dirty Thirties’ the Great Depression had American citizens who were unable to find work, standing in bread/soup lines for food to eat. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) create, by order of the President and support from Congress, work programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA). President Roosevelt did not pour billions upon billions into the coffers of the fat-cat Wall Street financiers who helped create the depression. Unlike our current President, FDR put his concern for the average citizen, the ‘Joe the Plumber’ of that time, into concrete action. Action that built much of the infrastructure that we still use today. Infrastructure that needs to be upgraded.
If the current President or his flunkies in Congress had any concern for the nearly 17% of Americans who are out of work and losing everything that they’ve spent a lifetime earning, then they would be creating similar programs. What, you didn’t know that the real unemployment figures were as high as 17%? Remember, accountants and politicians can manipulate figures to suit themselves. They tell you that the figure is ‘around 10%’. What they don’t tell you is that figure doesn’t include those that have given up finding work and have retired on something less than a full pension. Nor do the government figures include those who have reached the end of their unemployment benefits (benefits that they have paid into for years) and have ‘fallen off the rolls’, and are quite possibly now homeless.
It is my opinion and that of many others, our government lies. They will say whatever they have to say, and do whatever they can get away with, to make the American citizen ‘behave’ in the manner that the government wants. These people are suppose to be working for US, the American citizen! If we are indeed free citizens of this country, we DO NOT WORK FOR THEM! Although, with the higher taxes that will soon be coming, due to the Wall Street and Banker bailouts, we may be becoming their slaves. History has shown that slaves will only take so much before they reach ‘critical mass’ and have a ‘mass rebellion’!
Now, consider this: We have in this country sufficient natural gas supplies (and other natural resources) to power America for many years. The problem is, we do not have the necessary infrastructure to distribute the natural gas. Consider also, we have areas of the country that can produce wind-generated power and solar-generated power sufficient to power this nation. Again, we do not have the necessary infrastructure in place to distribute these types of power. What better place to begin a revived CCC or WPA program, than in building the infrastructure that we need. We have the ability and resources to become a self-sustaining country and put those that are unemployed back to work. BUT, so far it has not been in the best interests of the POLITICIANS to create a self-sustained United States of America.
Oh yes, let us not forget, the politicians give a lot of head nodding (Congressional bobble-heads!) and lip service to ‘greening America’ and ‘upgrading infrastructure’, but so far there has been little real action. AND, what action that has occurred, those ‘shovel ready’ programs have been limited to those states with the ‘right connections’. In other words, more pork. Although I don’t know for sure, and thus probably shouldn’t say, I suspect that what little infrastructure work that has been done is rift with graft and excess; at least that is my opinion. After all, history has shown that many government programs are subject to ‘indulgent excesses’.
Congress, who is by Constitutional law suppose to work for the American citizens who have elected them, and be the primary power in our Federal government, has relinquished that power to the President. A single individual who, in my opinion, is more of a dictator in current times, than the ‘figurehead’ position that was the original purpose written into the Constitution for the office of President. That one individual has usurped powers that were never intended by the framers of the Constitution, to reside in one person. Pelosi has even been heard to say that she is here to “serve the President”! That is not what the Constitution says.
I like old sayings. There is a lot of truth in them. One that comes to mind is (and I’m sure most of you have heard it), “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Having the primary power of our Federal government reside in the hands of one individual, is the equivalent of having a Royal King in the office of the President, which is opposed to the Supreme Law of the Land, the Constitution of the United States of America, to which the President and every member of Congress has sworn an oath to uphold. If they do not, it is considered treason.
If you’ve read this far, please remember: YOU have the power to change our Federal government. Before November gets here, find and support only candidates that will listen to what YOU, the American citizen for whom they will be working, wants. When November comes around, VOTE!
