The Jersey Shore reunion brought a massive summer to an end. Therefore, the Jersey Shore reunion had to be as massive as its now-iconic personalities. The last few months made The Situation, Snooki, Ronnie, Sammie, Mike, JWOWW and more into pop-culture icons. For their last ride – at least for this season on MTV – the gang brought the expected amounts of drama, arguments, and even breakups. The Jersey Shore reunion likely left fans wanting more, and in some fashion, they’ll likely get it at some point.
For the last several months, the New Jersey ‘guidos’ have become the newest reality sensation, with all their situations and alleged Italian stereotypes. For the Jersey Shore reunion, the group came together one last time, at least for Season 1.
While the viewers were happy to see the group together again, certain members weren’t happy around each other. Most notably, Sammi and Ronnie got into their usual relationship trouble, which was made to look like the final straw. Thanks to some special, secret footage of Sammi and The Situation having a big talk, Ronnie went off once more.
The Jersey Shore reunion wouldn’t be complete without some kind of Sammi-Ronnie spat. But since this was the season finale and reunion, when Sammi announced they were “like, done” it looked final this time. Of course, speculation is that they made up again off camera, especially since they still appeared together on Rachel Ray this week.
Given how Jersey Shore has become a major cash cow and new phenomenon for MTV, they likely won’t wait long to show what happens next. Yet there’s been no official announcement for a Season 2, and if everyone will come back.
But the franchise will likely live on somehow, even if all of the original gang isn’t there. Given how Sammi, Ronnie, Snooki, The Situation and their friends have become instant stars, MTV will want to keep them around for a long time.
Now that the Jersey Shore reunion is over, guidos and juiceheads have to sustain themselves on reruns for months on end. MTV will help them on that end, while the gang takes a break from the cameras, and the beaches.
Even in these days of American Idol, late night wars and the last season of Lost, a few crazy kids from New Jersey gathered just as much buzz, if not more. The Jersey Shore reunion hype proved that, and so will the inevitable hype once they return to TV.
