I like Jasper Schuringa. Who is Jasper Schuringa? Jasper Schuringa is the fellow who subdued the Detroit Northwest Airlines’ hijacker Umar Farouk Abdulmuttalub, 23.
Soraya Roberts of the New York Daily News has posted an article titled “Jasper Schuringa subdued alleged terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmuttallab on Northwest Airlines 253.”
It is interesting to read the account of the terrorist attempt and the role that Schuringa played.
From his (Schuringa’s) account he heard an explosion. When he saw Abdulmutallab he saw a man with literally fire between his legs. He removed the object and tried to extinguish at the same time screaming for water.
Schuringa was savvy enough to realize that the terrorist might have additional weapons attached to his body and stripped his clothes from his body to search for them.
Then after he strip-searched this individual he wrestled him to the front of the plane. He did all of this with burned hands.
When Schuringa returned to his seat he received a round of applause. My personal opinion is they should have taken a collection and given him a reward.
As soon as the plane landed Abdulmutallab was taken into custody.
Another comment that Schuriunga made was that it seemed that Abdulmutallab was “staring into nothing.”
This certainly could have been a self-induced trance or drugs or I suppose it could have been hypnosis.
The question is of course is Abdullmutallab associated with the Al Qaeda? I don’t know.
I have always thought that the Al Qaeda is not as large as we probably think they are but use a lot of people from a tight nucleus.
Something entered my mind that bothers me. I am no doubt wrong however, because of the fact it was set up the way it was, the timing seems convenient in terms of support of increasing the war effort. Am I saying it was “set-up” by our government? No, not necessarily. I am only saying it seems convenient.
As I’ve said in the past I remember when I was in Vietnam I saw a British ship drop off 50 percent of her cargo at our port only to leave to drop off 50 percent of her cargo at an enemy port.
Whatever the circumstances, Jasper Schuringa is a hero. He gave a lot of people a priceless Christmas present.
