Set within the realms of Greek mythology, players control ex-Spartan warrior Kratos as he journeys through Mount Olympus and the depths of Hell in order to enact his vengeance upon the ones who’ve betrayed him. Make use of your double-chained blades and an endless arsenal of weaponry and magic to do battle with the darkest creatures in mythology; solve complex puzzles in your quest and engage in epic battles on a grand scale that is unlike anything in its predecessors.
This is one department where “God of War III” will simply sweep you right off of your feet. This game features state of the art visuals and artistic direction, everything here looks completely stunning, especially during the big boss battles. The scale of these environments is simply unbelievable with fully loaded textures, all jagged-free and clean-cut. There’s no annoying load times whatsoever. Sometimes, not often though, you may experience a glitch or two which may result in a loss on your end.
If you’ve played the last two “God of War” games, then set your expectations high because there’s plenty in store here for you to experience. This third entry in the series continues the same core gameplay but improves upon it with speed and depth. There’s three difficulty levels: Spartan (Easy), God (Normal), Titan (Hard), and there’s a fourth unlockable difficulty titled Chaos (Very Hard) which becomes available once you beat the game. Playing on God mode is a breeze, making things way too easy, I’d recommend playing it on Titan for a challenging and adrenaline-pumping experience, the difficulty is balanced just right on Titan mode. Aside from the incredible heart-pounding action sequences, “God of War III” also features plenty of platform moments that include puzzles which aren’t too hard but they’re not easy. The levels are specifically designed and built around these puzzles, some of which can be quite frustrating at times.
“God of War III” allows for real-time weapon switching during battles and while performing combos, yet everything still manages to run very smoothly during all of this (we have a flexible 40-60 frames per second to thank for that). The responsive controls here fully allow the combat to run far more fluidly. The battles in “God of War III” are some of the most grotesque I’ve ever seen, talk about bloodbaths everywhere. Expect your beloved Kratos to get splashed in red quite often throughout this game.
“God of War III” rounds off the trilogy with a stunning and conclusive chapter that will leave fans impressed and yearning for more. Everything in this game is presented in an epic and over-the-top format that is much welcomed here. You don’t have to be a fan of the series to appreciate this game, I highly encourage all newcomers to pick up your controller for this game. “God of War III” is a brilliant story of one legendary man seeking vengeance in a life of torment. This game is perfection at its finest.
