Have you heard on the TV, Radio or Internet News vine about the 606 lbs mother of a 2 year old, who has an online show where men pay her to eat? She has made national news for stating that her goal is to reach a weight of 1000 lbs.
Now, setting aside the medical possibilities that she will live past 900 lbs, there are several large problems that I hope to point out. It’s not the worry for her toddler and the scaring the child will have when her mother drops dead from exploding arteries. It’s not the thought about how grossly insane she is for wanting such a horrible painful death.
Its two thoughts:
1) is gluttony the leading cause for why people want Obama care?
2) What about the starving people in our nation who are starving right now?
Let’s think about it for a moment. The leading cause for death in America, that accounts for more than 12 million deaths per year, is heart disease according to a poll taken by Insurance companies…
The leading causes for heart disease are:
-Diabetes (type II is often caused by obesity)
-Birth Control Pills
Let’s look at the definition of “Gluttony”: greedy or excessive indulgence
Too often, Gluttony is only thought of, when it comes to excess or overindulgent eating. Yet, really, it can go along with anything that comes in excess. Such as smoking to much, lack of physical movement in excess, too much stress, overindulgent drinking of alcohol. These are the leading causes of Health problems and death in America, and from what Obama and the Democrats suggest, we need health care to cover the rising costs of health care…
Now, since even Insurance companies agree that the leading health problem that lead people into the doctors office or emergency room is Heart Disease, and some in our nation are declaring that we NEED Health care reform, is there a possibility that it is help with healthy living habits and moderation that we really need? NOT health care Insurance?
Is there a possibility that we need cheaper access to healthy foods than to junk foods? Is it possible that we need doctors who are trained in helping us use drug free cures and WHOLE health, instead of just band aide solutions for LARGE problems?
The leading health problems in our country are eating too much, drinking too much, Smoking to much, Having to much unprotected sex, Spending too much time not moving (TV, Computer, etc.) and excessive stress.
Sounds to me like we need educational reform, more than we need health care INSURANCE reform. Would the citizens of America have such a hard time providing health care for themselves if we had better lifestyle practices in the first place?
Not to mention the thought of personal accountability. I dare those who are direly in need of health care, to review all the choices they have made in their lives that lead them to need so much health care that the bill was larger then their house.
In my mind, all things relate. If you smoked cigarettes when you were young into adulthood, did to many synthetic drugs, spent to much time watching TV, sat around blamed the world for your problems or didn’t do anything to try and fix the societal problems that stopped you from living the best possible healthy life style that you could, then you contributed to the health position you are in. Being that you contributed to it, does that mean that the rest of the world needs to be put on mandatory health insurance and pay taxes to fix the problems you created?
Call me cruel, call me an existentialist, call me what ever you may. But I say that we need personal accountability and cheaper access to healthy foods and habits, before we need Insurance.
