If you are faced with flesh-eating zombies who are ambling toward you with intent to munch and mutilate, before you grab that shotgun and dispatch them, have a little fun! Most zombies are slow-moving and brain-deficient but they can still be fun to play games with. Here are a few ideas for the best games to play with a zombie before you blow it away.
Games NOT to Play With Zombies
First, let’s go over the games that are not good to play with zombies.
Thinking games such as Clue, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers and Connect Four are not good choices for a zombie. Deductive reasoning and money management are not strong points for most zombies. Because death and infection has been eating their brain, they just won’t make good opponents and you run the risk of them dissolving into mindless tantrums when they lose. Cry baby zombies are never fun.
Mouse trap is not a great game to play with a zombie – they don’t have the patience to build the trap. Boggle, Pictionary, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit should not even be considered for “Zombie Game Night” because if the zombie can even spell correctly (unlikely) they probably can’t draw worth a crap which can ruin the fun.
Jump rope really isn’t an appropriate zombie game, unless they are fast moving zombies who still have some physical dexterity. If they were that kind of zombie though, you wouldn’t be playing games with them. So nevermind. Just skip the jump rope – zombie suck at it.
Just remember – games that require serious thought should be skipped when it comes to zombies.
Games That are Great to Play With Zombies
Hungry, Hungry Hippos is a good game to play with a zombie, just be aware that this game causes excitement which can in turn make the zombie a little unmanageable. You may have to plan to behead your zombie after a rousing round with the hippos.
Twister can be lots of fun with zombies. For this game, though, you are better off allowing the zombies to play while you spin and call. Putting yourself in the melee of twisting and right-hand-yellowing could put you at risk of being bitten inadvertently. Zombies can endure only so much temptation.
You’ve heard of “Monkey in the Middle” well how about “Zombie in the Middle?” This is even more fun if you use a zombie head for the ball.
Hot Potato and Musical Chairs can be awesome if you choose to just let the music go and go and go. Zombie confusion can be so much fun. Be ready with your weapons for the eventuality that one wiseguy will figure out you’re just messing with their heads.
Duck, Duck Goose can be fun with zombies but, like Twister, you run the risk of being bitten if a zombie gets overexcited or forgets the “No Eating the Humans” rule.
Hide and Seek is an awesome zombie game because you can tell them to seek, then not bother hiding. Just sit somewhere while you watch them running around trying to find you. Lots of laughs in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
Flashlight tag can be tons of fun with zombies. The only thing to remember is that you might need to duct tape the flashlight to the zombie arms, otherwise your flashlights might be dropped somewhere along the way, thus ruining the game. The most fun method of playing flashlight tag with zombies is to sit back and watch all of the zombies running around in the dark with flashlights. You can choose to combine a zombie dispatching mission with flashlight tag by setting up booby traps and watching the lighted zombies running into trees, stepping on land mines and falling into pits. The only drawback is that you might lose a few flashlights.
Finally, the best game to play with zombies isn’t exactly a game. The Hokey Pokey with zombies just can’t be beat for great fun and entertainment. If you’re lucky, a “put your left arm in” might result in some rotting limbs being thrown around. Good times!
Remember, before dispatching every zombie, stop and think – how could I have fun today? Play a few games with your zombies before your blow their heads off and have a nice zombie apocalypse.
