Here I am again to share another peek into our crazy, mixed-up life on the farm. The weather has been a little more cooperative this week although, it has snowed some but nothing to accumulate much this week. We actually seen the sunshine and I was actually able to spend a little time outside this week. I guess that could mean that spring is right around the corner.
I guess if spring is right around the corner, I should take the snowmen that I decorate with in the winter down and find some wonderful spring decorations for the house. However, I always hate to take the snowmen down as it is such a task to put them up. With a collection of many sizes and kinds that I would say totals at least 400 pieces, it is a job to put them up and take them down. However, I don’t think that my husband will let me leave them up all year.
I tackled a new project this week and I am sure that many of you will find this quite funny considering that I live on a farm and we have chickens running loose in the yard. I made my first omelette yesterday! My husband loves omelettes, but has always had to have his mom make them ( good thing she lives next door) as I never knew how and was afraid to try. I finally decided as he was outside working that I would try to make one and that if I messed it up, he would never know. Well, when I finished with it I thought that it looked decent so I decided that I would let him try it and he actually ate all of it and was impressed that I had made a good one. I didn’t have a recipe in front of me or anything, I just took what I knew about them and made one. I am sure that many of you are laughing now as you make them many times, but I was shocked that I was finally able to make one.
I am still off work and was granted my medical leave for 4 weeks and now I am on FMLA, which is unpaid. I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow, but I believe that it is more than that as it has hurt the same for 6 weeks and no end in sight to the pain. I go to the orthopedic doctor again on Monday and he wants to put a Cortizone shot in it if it still hurts like this. I guess I will have to let him do it as I can’t stand the pain much longer, but I would like to know exactly what the problem is. I don’t believe that tennis elbow is all that is causing so much pain. It causes my arm to be stiff when I wake up in the morning and some days that I can barely straighten it all day. I will tell you all next week in my report what he says.
Nothing exciting has happened here this week. We picked up the meat from the cow we had butchered. From half a beef we received 220 pounds of meat for $112. That is execellent prices and I am thrilled. We had sirloin steak and baked potatoes with fresh from the garden green beans tonight and corn. Tomorrow night we will be having a chuck roast with new potatoes and baby carrots.
Well, I guess since it is almost midnight and I am still attempting to write a couple of articles, I will get off of here and close this report out for this week. I hope “ya’ll come back next week”. Have a great March beginning and I will talk with you next week.
