You can blame weather, the holidays or any other reason you have. However, the truth is the same. It’s time to lose weight before the summer begins. Here are five time-tested ways to lose weight fast:

Low calories, high volume

Remember, when you are on a diet you want to feel full without using too many calories to get there. Drinking a large amount of water, eating fresh fruit, and consuming food with lots of fiber will leave you feeling full without the penalty of too many calories.

Drink water

You will lose weight fast if you drink water. Many times the body may be thirsty, but the mind thinks its hungry instead, according to All Women’s Talk. Drink a glass full of water about 15 minutes before each meal and you’ll be less likely to eat too much. Also, continue drinking water throughout the day to avoid feeling hungry and to keep the body hydrated.

Think thin, be thin

Motivational sales speaker Brian Tracey, author of “Maximum Achievement,” has spent 30 years telling people a simple but true message: You are what you think. We are overweight because we allow ourselves to think and act that way. Try telling yourself, “I am a thin person and I will do everything I can to act consistently with the ways that a thin person does.” Soon it will become to second nature to pass up on bad food and to seek more exercise in your life and lose weight.

Walk, don’t run

Actually running isn’t bad, but there are many ways that you can sneak a few minutes of walking into your day and lose weight fast. For example, park at the farthest parking spot at work, the mall or the grocery store. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk 10 minutes for lunch. Walk for 10 minutes after dinner. It’s really easy to get 30 minutes of exercise into your day without greatly changing your routine. The more exercise you do, the more calories you will burn. You’ll feel better and look better.

Keep a journal

Carry a notebook as a journal and keep track of the foods you eat during the day. According to

Fitness For Life you’ll want to maintain a running total of your daily caloric intake. This way you are more conscious about everything you eat. Remember to keep track other items: fat, protein, carbohydrates, fiber, ect.
