The Final Fight series is very old school as most gamers would say. Capcom has brought back this beloved game along with Magic Sword. With simple but fun game play, Final Fight is a game lots of gamers can look back on and smile at the thought of remembering beating up baddies with friends and losing quarters; is this Xbox 360 Live Arcade game worth your 40 quarters? ($10 US)
What story? If you’re like me and a lot of other old school gamers out there who loved playing at the arcades then most likely you didn’t care too much about a game’s story. No, we mostly cared about the graphics and how the game played. There isn’t much of a story to look for but this isn’t the type of game where you miss it too much.
Who doesn’t love a good beat-em up with lively characters, squishy bad guys, and crisp game play? Luckily for us, along with being a good game already, this port onto the Xbox 360 live arcade made the game even better than I remember! From what you would expect from these types of games, you mostly walk through stages, sometimes with a weapon in hand, and beat the crap out of anything that moves. Very simple and fun, nothing wrong here, just a beat-em up at its finest!
If you’re a avid gamer then most likely you have come across some arcade games that just get butchered during the jump to consoles. Games have had graphics, sounds, and even things taken out of it sometimes. Fortunately, Final Fight isn’t one of those games. Looking just as good and smooth as it did on the arcade machines, there’s nothing to complain about here. As long as nothing changes to much with nostalgic games like this then I think we have nothing to worry about.
Very awesome! One of the greatest things about a video game is their music. No one wants to experience a game and have no tracks to motivate them!! Capcom has gone above and beyond and gave up re-mixed versions of various songs from the game. Don’t you remember the upbeat tunes that we heard every time you put a quarter in? If not then luckily there’s a option to change the music to the original tracks at your leisure. Such a great add!
Since this is a former arcade game now on a port, some would think there’s not much else to it rather than the linear stages. Don’t worry we’re getting the most out of our 40 quarters. There are many features still to experience! First, there is the multiplayer; you can’t have an arcade beat-em up without buddies, right? Just like an arcade, if you’re playing online with the game any random person can drop in your game without having to start anything over. There are also many achievements to unlock for you hardcore point hoarders as well as in game content to unlock such as concept art. If you’re looking for more there are also challenge stages for you to complete, for example there are timed stages and requirements like beating the game under a certain amount of continues.
Final Fight is a game that has been brought back to life after all these years. It is a great game that brings back a lot of memories for old school gamers like me. Now people who haven’t gotten a chance to experience the crisp game play and sick sounds can now get it here on Xbox 360 Live Arcade for $10. Thank you Capcom!
