People hold parties in celebration of upcoming weddings, and some decide to have a party after a divorce. Not everyone divorcing is devastated or bitter. For men and women alike it can be a welcome relief, and in any case it is a new beginning. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, regret, and sadness, host a divorce party or at least a get-together with close friends that care. Read past the title, and consider the following divorce party theme ideas and information. It can be beneficial to begin the next chapter of life with a party instead of a box of tissues.
Not all marriages can be saved or should be saved. Those that do not think that celebrating a divorce is appropriate are more than likely very happily married or dating a kind and caring person. Personally I would not want to have a party shortly after a divorce, but that is my choice. I would want the simple support of family and friends, but everyone is different.
Do what makes you feel better after a divorce, and do not listen to those that think a divorce party is disgusting. They do not have to attend or use these ideas. They have no business passing judgment on others in situations they do not have the ability to comprehend or understand.
Also, not everyone that ends up divorced believes in divorce, and they are not necessarily even partially responsible for the breakup. Having a party does not mean you did not try. Some have lived with hostility and did all they could to save the marriage. Others are lucky to escape with their sanity when all is said and done.
In addition, this information is not intended to promote the destruction of personal property. I would never destroy or sell property someone intended to retrieve, and this type of behavior is not advantageous to anyone. Use commonsense, and avoid doing anything negative when hosting a divorce party. In the long run, it will not make you feel better.
Have a Bonfire with Friends and Family
A bonfire on a cool evening is always fun, and when the divorce is final and the ex has retrieved the last of his or her personal property, a divorce party with bonfire can offer a way to vent frustrations. Enjoy roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, and just sitting around conversing with friends and relatives. If it makes you feel better, burn something the ex no longer wanted. It can be a symbolic gesture to end an old and unpleasant chapter in life.
Plan a Garage Sale Party Instead of a Pity Party
Did the ex leave behind a lot of items that you have no use for? Get a few friends together for a divorce party/garage sale and everyone can earn extra cash while having a good time in the process. Sell the items the ex left behind, and make a little extra money. Use the money to pamper yourself with a makeover, tanning, or go out to dinner. You deserve it!
Have a Bachelor or Bachelorette Party
A bachelor or bachelorette party is common before an upcoming wedding, and the same party theme can be used after a divorce. When hosting a divorce party, plan the same activities that would be planned for a bachelorette or bachelor party, and have a night of fun. Divorce party activities can include a nice dinner, dancing, or a comedy. It does not have to include strippers, risqué movies, or members of the opposite sex. It is your divorce party, and for once you can do what you want!
Divorce is sad, and it is not a joke. No matter who initiates the end of the marriage, it temporarily feels like a death. For those that are ready to move on, it is the beginning of a promising new life. Why not host a divorce party and do something positive after the marriage is over? Do what feels right for you instead of what is expected by society. Only you know how you want to celebrate the next chapter in your life.
