Diets do not work! Face it! Get used to the fact and change your way of thinking. If a different appearance and the urge to feel better is your desire, you have to make a life altering decision. Here are some basic steps in training yourself to change your lifestyle as opposed to dieting.
The first choice, one must make, is the basic decision to change.Transformations are not always easy. You must begin to visualize yourself as the person whom you wish to be. A basic statement must be spoken to get the process going. “I want to eat better, exercise and basically, take care of myself.” This assertion will jump start you on the road to fulfillment.Place a photo of someone with the physique you desire , up where it can be viewed on a daily basis. Be realistic about your goals as you look at this picture. Do not see yourself as you presently appear; but visualize your body as healthy as the individual on the photo. From day to day, as you glance at his picture, it will remind you of the end result you are striving toward. Do not yearn to be the person on the photo, only strive toward attaining the level of health the individual has reached.Plan your meals and healthy food choices
Diets do not work! Slowly but surely, is a great motto to live by when trying to change your eating habits. It is better to take your time introducing new foods and making food transitions. If you can not change at least three foods weekly; then you should opt for at least one weekly. Switching white (flour based) bread with whole wheat bread is a start. I suggest this one for the beginner’s first food switch. Making this transition may be difficult at first but over time; you will hardly remember what the high fat food tastes like. Another obstacle is the ‘bland health food’ complaint. You should strive to choose food that tastes good. Do not force feed yourself things that taste like cardboard. This is unnecessary and also good for your health.
And remember; unlike in relationships or on exams, cheating is good. Allow yourself one day out of every week to eat whatever you desire: healthy or not. This is essential because, when you cheat, you reward yourself. This makes your lifestyle change less likely to fail.
Diets do not work! Exercise-It is not just for the eccentric. Make exercising fun! It really is good Do not buy one or two bland aerobic tapes, which get redundant over time. Yes! It is good to have some around, but it is more important to put emphasis on day to day routines; especially those which get you out-of-doors. Exercising such as jogging, biking, walking and dancing are extremely efficient ways of burning fat. They stimulate your body as well as your mind. Make sure to rotate these activities to eradicate boredom. Also, lift weights; it builds muscle tone, speeds metabolism and combats colds. Avoid stimulants when at all possible: as these can cause damage to your heart. It is preferable to rely on God-given endurance.
Remember, as you begin to notice the changes also notice your remaining physical faults. Do not dwell on them, but simply take inventory on what remains to be ‘fixed’. I , personally, have found that this helps to further motivate myself to become the best example of health that I can be. Before you make the decision to become fit; make sure you understand that to achieve these goals you must follow through. This is not a diet. It is a way of life. Diets do not work! The decision to become a better you is only a choice away. Lets go for it!Enjoy!
