We do cardio workouts to keep our body fit and to keep us energized throughout the day. The intensity of cardio workouts can differ individually depending on our physical condition. There are some who can do light cardio workouts and some can do medium impact or high impact exercises. You could be following an instructional video that guides you during your exercise however, just like me, I already have sets of high impact cardio workouts that I can do without the help of an instructional video. But then, doing them quietly is extremely boring and could de-motivate you. What do you usually do? As for me, I listen to music.
You also have to consider the music you’d want to play while you’re working out. In my opinion, it could be helpful if you play fast-paced music while doing high impact exercises. These include pop, disco and dance music. Playing ballads and love songs while doing your routines can work but most likely, you’ll get tired easily or if you’re really emotional, tearjerkers may get to you.
It can also depend on where you are in your routine. If you’re in the stretching part before or after your workout, you can play a much slower music if you’d like. If you’re doing low to medium impact exercises, then go with an adequately fast music. If your cardio workout has a part where you have to do high impact routines then try to choose a very fast music.
You can choose in specific ways like songs from the genre you like (rock, pop, dance, disco, etc) or you can choose songs among your favorite artists. Or you could even choose songs depending on the era like 80s or 90s songs. It all depends on you.
What I do is I actually have a compilation of songs that I play during my exercise routines. I also incorporate different dance moves while I do my cardio work out so I include those songs in the beginning and then have the rest of the fast songs play afterwards during my cardio set. I just change songs from time to time so I wouldn’t get bored of the same set of music since I work out everyday. Playing music sets my mood whenever I work out.
Well, it all comes down to your preference and what kind of music you like. As long as you feel energetic when you do your cardio workouts then that’s perfectly fine. That should be your priority, to feel energized during your cardio work out so you can exert enough effort to burn the calories. Consistency and variation in your music are important factors in the success if your cardio workouts.
