Beer, wine, and spirits all flow like water in Spokane. Some of the best beer I have ever tasted is tapped right downtown. The culture has variety and color. No matter what your style is you can find a nook for you to feel at home. Spokane is also a short drive from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho’s resort town which hosts it’s own share of things to do and places to go. Spokane does offer many outdoor activities and parks to enjoy if your not too tired from the night before. Most of the night life lasts until 2 a.m. or later and there are plenty of places to get a late bite to eat. Enjoy!
Twigs Bistro – $$$
A great place for a date or just a good drink. Twigs offers a fine dining menu and prides themselves on their martinis. There are locations on the South Hill, Downtown, and in the Wandermere. The drinks are reasonably priced and usually well made. The menu can be a little pricey if you go for more than a sandwich. Take a look at their list of martinis while your there. I love a good martini and there Twigs martini is what I always order. The make a good Portobello sandwich also.
The Blue Spark – $$
One of the the more popular hang outs. The blue spark is right downtown and a very hopping place after 7pm. They offer a large variety of beers on tap and a large menu of mixers, shots, and shooters. Usually every day they have a special going. My favorite is Sundays “Kill the Keg”. Dollar pints till the keg is gone. Prices are good and if you want to eat they have some reasonably priced appetizers. Their nachos are some of the best in town.
The Baby Bar – $
A cheaper place and one of Spokane’s hidden gems. Located behind Neato Burrito, The Baby Bar is literally just that: A tiny bar. It’s not much bigger than a living room. But it brings crowds of people every night. It’s cheap prices, good food, and location make it a very popular spot. They don’t have the biggest selection of drinks but for the price you can’t complain.Try Neato Burritos Thai Burrito while your their. It’s amazing!
The Satellite Diner – $
If your hungry late night and your downtown, you have to hit this place up! Known all over Spokane for it’s cheap but delicious food and cheap but well made drinks. One side is a quint diner and the other half is a sports bar with pool tables, TV’s, and games. If you ever go there you have to try their fries. They are why people go there!
Marquee Lounge – $$
DJ’s and Dancing is what The Marquee is about. Dress in style and bring your game because this place is meant for singles. Live DJ’s spin at night while the bartenders mix up their drinks. They know their drinks too. There is a dress code here. Basically it’s dress like your going to club (I expect you know what that means). Usually every night there is something going on.
Steelhead Bar and Grille- $$
Another nice place to take a date. The mood is sophisticated but relaxed and the staff is very friendly. There food menu varies in price but the drinks are usually very well priced. One of my favorite places to go for a date or just a really good place to relax. Atmosphere is what this place does best.
Heroes and Legends – $$
A wonderful sports bar where you can watch the game or grab a bite to eat. Heroes and Legends is a large bar and grille with TV’s, pool, and games. It’s a great place to go to watch the local college Gonzaga play or watch football with your buds. Try to get there early though because on game night this place gets packed. By the way, their buffalo wings are some of the best in town!
The Viking Tavern – $
There is no better place in Spokane to go for a round of beers. The Viking is another one of those hidden gems of Spokane. It’s a little of the beaten path but it is worth it. Tons of beer on tap and a constant rotation keeps this place a beer lovers delight. They have great food to help you digest all that beer too. A casual, rugged, and care free bar. A favorite of many Spokanites. Well, the free popcorn helps too.
Steam Plant Grill – $$$
Can be expensive but well worth it. Classy and unique is how Steam Plant Grill is presents itself. You can enjoy gourmet dishes and desserts in the upper restaurant or you can go downstairs for a more private dining experience. The bar is also downstairs and is very classy and appealing. If you can’t tell, I really enjoy this place. Perhaps it’s because it’s also home to part of the Coeur d’Alene Brewery which happens to make my favorite beer. They brew some of the beer right in the establishment actually. My personal favorite beer is the Vanilla Bourbon Stout. Give it a try and maybe you will fall in love with it too.
Dempsey’s Brass Rail – $$
Dancing the night away is what Dempsey’s is all about. Dempsey’s is well known in Spokane for being a great place to cut loose. It’s also a great place to find a drag queen! But seriously, it hosts some funny and outlandish drag queen contests. It’s one of the better dance clubs in Spokane and offers some good times and good drinks!
The BLVD – $
Good drinks and music is all you’ll find at the BLVD. They host metal concerts, local shows, raves, and local favorites. The BLVD is frequented by a younger crowd and can get a little rowdy sometimes. Buts its all in good fun and I have never seen it get out of hand. They have something going on every night and can pour a mean drink also. When you go in try and grab a seat quick because it will be limited as the night wears on. One of the big sellers here is Karaoke night.
Bistango Lounge – $$$
Bistango is a atmospheric and great place for a sexy date. Right when you walk in you will notice the low lighting and the style. Bistango Lounge makes great martinis of all kinds. But if your new you have to try their signature “Bistango Lounge Martini”. They pride themselves on their drinks and it shows. The food is a little on the expensive side for a bar. But everything here is well made and worth the price . Check out their website to see some of their signature martinis.
These are just a few of the places in Spokane that you can enjoy a good drink. There are many more and I encourage you to explore the city for more places. While your out stop by some of the interesting shops and small places you find. By the way, I recommend walking through Riverfront Park or go see Manito Park to work off that hang over.
