Anxiety disorders can happen to any one at any time. A single stressful situation may lead to severe anxiety. Most of the time, a lot of people who suffer from anxiety disorder succumb to it quite quickly. But then, I believe a lot of those who are about to have an anxiety attack know the situation they are in and can possibly do something to stop it on its tracks. I’ve been able to avert anxiety attacks so let me share the things I did.
First and foremost, I believe that the key to averting any anxiety attack is acknowledging that you are about to have one. You’d actually know that situation wherein you seem to be very lonely and sad for no reason. You tend not to do anything and a lot of the things you are saying make no sense. Then most likely you’d ask why so I would suggest that you act fast.
You’d probably give up even on simple things such as eating. But you’re probably still thinking rationally so don’t give it up. Don’t just think that you are still rational, know you are. It’s fine to feel that way sometimes especially when we encounter certain situations.
Once you’ve acknowledged and accepted that you are in a situation wherein you are susceptible to an anxiety attack (whether you actually are or not as long you think it is) then, you’d probably start to think clearly. But on the contrary, don’t think too much as you’d probably get confused since most certainly you’ll get a surge of thoughts coming in.
The first thing I did was to talk to my family, relatives and my real best friends. They are the ones who would probably understand you the most so you can let it all out. Talk to them and open up. They’d most likely listen to you and give you advice on what you could do. Listen and stay open. If you can talk to more than 1 person then that’s usually better. The more you let go the better the feeling will be.
Just make sure that you feel better when you talk to them. Don’t be afraid to talk. As soon as you’re done talking to them, you need not think hard. Go out and have fun. Relax and don’t think about anything stressful. If possible go with the one you talked with. After you’re done, just relax and breathe.
In any case, give yourself a break. It doesn’t matter how since what matters to you most is yourself. These are just some of the things that I did and it may or may not work for you but at least, you know there are things that you can do. It all depends on how strong you are, how willing you are and how you will handle it. I wish you all the best.
