It was results night for the ten remaining American Idol contestants. I am going to skip over the details and go straight to announcing which American Idol contestants landed in the bottom three.
The Bottom Three
It was a bit of a surprise whenKatie Stevens, who performed pretty well last night, was the first to land in the bottom three. No one was surprised to see Didi Benami take the second seat. Her performance was one of the poorest of the night and more than a little pitchy. Tim Urban, who has been hanging on each week despite poor reviews from the judges, took the last chair.
American Idol Girls are Dropping Like Flies
Since the Idol guys and girls started performing together, we have seen two female American Idol contestants eliminated, Lacey Brown and Paige Miles. I am not sure why it is that the guys seem to last longer in the competition, but we saw a similar trend last season. I find it a little surprising that Idol girls seem to fare so much worse than Idol guys since three of the five most successful American Idol contestants are in fact women. The five most successful Idol contestants as ranked by American Idol are in order: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Dougherty, Jennifer Hudson and Clay Aiken.
It was Didi Benami’s Turn to Leave Idol
Sadly it was another female contestant voted off the American Idol stage. Didi has had some rough performances, but she has also had some really good moments. It was a shame to see her leave American Idol so early in the competition.
American Idol is Down to Just Three Women
All six of the twelve American Idol male finalists are still hanging strong in the competition, but we are down to just three women contestants. Crystal Bowersox remains the favorite for this season of American Idol. She is joined by Katie Stevens, who is one of the youngest American Idol contestants this season. Katie has had some rather rough performances, but she seems to be improving each week. She may hang in for awhile. The final female left on American Idol is Siobhan Magnus. Siobhan has had two pretty stellar performances, but she performed poorly this week and the judges seem to be getting a little bored with her signature scream (I know I am).
We will need to wait until Tuesday, April 6th to see the remaining nine American Idol contestants perform. Let’s hope that the three remaining Idol women fare better in the upcoming weeks.
