This week’s theme was the Top 100 songs of all time. The American Idol contestants had thousands of songs to choose from, and it must have been slightly nerve-racking for them to choose the right song.
For weeks now, they’ve been told this is the week that matters the most, but tonight, getting in the Top 10 means additional opportunities in terms of making money and being in front of audiences across the nation for those that make the Top 10 will be in the American Idol Season 9 Tour.
In past seasons, the judges would alternate between who went first in sharing their critiques but probably for time management purposes, the producers of American Idol have chosen to have Randy Jackson at one end of the table, and Simon Cowell at the other, with both Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi sitting next to each other. Ryan Seacrest has been involved in a bit of a power struggle with Simon this season.
We’ve seen them flame up a bit at each other, but nothing that suggests they might come to blows, though Simon does bust him, telling him to stay back, like a dog, almost last night.
Tonight on Idol, one person is going home. Who got voted off this week on American Idol?
The top 11 American Idol contestants performed George Michael’s , Wham – “Jitterbug”. I went to see the tour on Season 8 and was fairly pleased with the show. I like the way this season’s contestants blend their sound together.
Tim Urban, Paige Miles were the first two identified in the bottom three. Later Katie Stevens was added as part of the bottom three, but then she was told she was safe, and was going on tour.
Highlights of the show:
Let me say that something was up on American Idol, when the camera came onto the judges they were all glaring and pre-occupied about something. They quickly recovered and the show went on.
Miley Cyrus had a nice stage show, and sang “When I look at you”. She has a movie coming out 3/31/2010 that will feature her song and showcase her acting.
Ryan Seacrest also told the audience that there will be soon opportunities for people to “Help American Idol Give Back.” He was looking for people to submit ways that they helped their communities, and the winners would get promotion on the television and possible future Idol show tickets.
Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas performed “Make a Wave” and they did a nice job on the harmonies. They had a pretty good chemistry on the stage too.
Paige Miles beats Tim Urban and Katie Stevens
Paige Miles is going home and Ryan told her it was time to”sing for your life”. Referring to the save option the judges have. But Simon told her before she sang, there was no chance they would try and save her.
In terms of words of encouragement from the judges. Simon said, “You are going home tonight. Take yourself back to when we first saw you, take yourself back. “
Paige is beautiful and she said she had a blast. She really went out with a bang and sang her last song well. She knew she had done a bad performance as she admitted it to Ryan earlier in the show.
