The smokey eye isn’t just an evening look. Switching from shades of charcoal and grey to shades of brown or bronze allows you to wear the flattering “smokey eye” in the daytime. This is a great look to wear to the office. The best part is the bronze smokey eye works well with all eye colors and shapes. Here are the five steps you need to take to achieve this daytime makeup trick.
Steps to Achieving the Bronze Smokey Eye
Step 1: Prep your eye by applying an eye shadow primer to the lid. Using an eye shadow primer will enable the shadow powder to better adhere and will help it to last longer. No one wants to have to reapply their eye shadow during the day. The eye shadow primer I prefer to use is Urban Decay’s eye shadow primer potion. The product is easy to apply and dries almost instantly. This product is available at Sephora stores. Use the product applicator and apply a light coat to the eyelid.
Step 2: Cover any dark circles if you have them. Dark circles under the eye really stand out with this daytime eye makeup trick, so make sure you cover them first. The high definition concealer by Smash Box, which is available at Sephora works really well at covering those pesky dark circles.
Step 3: Line only your upper lash line with eyeliner in black or dark brown. I use an eyeliner pencil in dark brown. Eyeliner pencils are one type of makeup I refuse to spend a lot of money on. I like Cover Girl’s Perfect Point Plus in Espresso, but in a pinch will substitute with an eyeliner pencil from Maybelline or Revlon. The key for me is finding a rich deep brown color and the one from Cover Girl is perfect.
Step 4: Smear cream shadow in a bronze tone on eyelid and underneath eye. I love Stila brand “smudge pots” in bronze. This product is actually a gel base and I find it easier to apply then other liquids. Choose “Bronze Sheen” for your daytime bronze smokey eye.
Step 5: Apply a champagne or rose colored powder shadow in the crease and folds of your upper lid. Again I use my “smudge pot” by Stila but this time in “Kitten”, a shimmery nude pink color.
That is all you have to do to achieve this daytime eye makeup trick. Sexy, smokey eyes are just too pretty to be worn only at night. A simple switch from grey tones to bronze tones is all that is needed to get smokey daytime eyes. Most of the products that I have mentioned are available at Sephora stores.
