According to news reports, Iran’s outspoken, and some would say out-of-touch-with-reality president has now claimed that the terrorist attacks against the U.S. World Trade Center in New York City on Septemebr 11, 2001 are a big lie and just an excuse for the U.S. to invade Afghanistan. Ahmadinejad has questioned the September 11 attacks before, but has never gone as far as claiming it was all just a fabrication.
Small wonder that this so-called leader was denied access to the World Trade Center site while attending a meeting at the United Nations back in 2007. Ahmadinejad also caused problems at a lecture he gave in New York when he stated that the causes and conditions of the 9/11 attacks still needed to be examined more closely. At this same time, Iranian state TV also reported that he said the attacks were “a result of mismanaging and inhumane managing of the world by the U.S.” He has also questioned the number of Americans killed that day.
All this from a supposed leader who claims to be in touch with his people-the same people his jack-booted thugs were killing during the last elections. Iran is also supposedly on the fast track to developing nuclear weapons in a region that has been, and continues to be, politically unstable at best. This president, and the leadership he represents, are the best reason for the IAEA to prevent alleged developing countries from getting nuclear weapons.
How long before this paragon of truth-telling announces the development of their first nuclear weapon? And of course, Ahmadinejad will boldly proclaim that developing nations have a right to the bomb if for nothing else than to protect themselves from unjust war-provoking nations like the U.S. and Israel. Perhaps Iran’s government is carefully orchestrating an attempt to get the so-called “9/11 inside job” crowd on their side. Or maybe they are using the ever tried-and-true divide and conquer strategy to break the U.S. from within. Whatever his reasons, nobody wants what Iran has right now. Why is this man given credence? Who is listening to him? Perhaps we need to examine ourselves and ask why this deadly demagog is saying these things about us.
It’s time to stop listening to just anyone who demands we listen to their ear-tickling diatribe. There will always be people with all sorts of theories and conspiracies. What matters is people were killed that day. Families were destroyed and lives were changed. It’s time to start using the brains that God gave us and think for ourselves. Do we really believe that the government would do this to it’s own people? If we do think that, and just stand by apathetically, then perhaps we deserve what we get.
