Basically every gaming console ever made has been totally ripped-off, copied, and knocked off, and the Nintendo Wii is no exception. Following are the four most obvious Nintendo Wii knockoff accessories to ever hit gaming store shelves.
Developed by Nintendo and all 480 members of the Wu-tang clan (just kidding), the Wu Fit is obviously a knockoff Wii Fit accessory that tries its best to trick consumers into buying it by using typography tricks. The Wü Fit is technically spelled with a “u” but is dotted and underlined to resemble two lower cased I’s as in “Wii”. Surprisingly, the Wü Fit works perfectly fine, but its laughable Nintendo Wii Fit knockoff attempt places this fake Wii accessory in the hall of fame of Nintendo Wii fakes.
Look very closely at the names of game accessories nowadays or you might be duped by a fake. If you haven’t noticed by now the Nyko Nunchuck Wii controller accessory is spelled very similar to the Nintendo Wii Nunchuk, but an extra “c” is added to fool gamers. The Nyko Nunchuck accessory was such a blatantly obvious attempt at a Nintendo accessory fake that Nintendo actually sued Nyko for its fake accessory.
Nyko obviously doesn’t mind being sued for making fake accessories and decided to knockoff another Wii accessory after the Nyko’s Nunchuck fiasco. After Nintendo launched the Wii Motion Plus accessory, Nyko decided that it wouldn’t be one-upped by Nintendo and released a fake Motion Plus accessory for the Nintendo Wii. The Nyko Wand+ accessory is both a Wii Remote and Motion Plus knockoff made into one device. I wonder how this Wii Remote fake with built in Motion Plus knockoff functions with games that need a detached Motion Plus to function?
Mad Catz couldn’t let Nyko have all the fake Nintendo Wii accessories fun and decided to make a few fakes of its own. The Wireless Z-Chuk is pretty much exactly what it sounds like; an obvious Nintendo Wii Nunchuck knockoff – but with Wireless support. This knock off Wii accessory is actually pretty helpful, because it eliminates the annoying short cable that connects the Wii Remote to the Nunchuk, but it’s still a fake Nintendo Wii accessory nonetheless.
